How to get to Arran & Kildonan
Arran is easily reached by ferry from the mainland, running frequent services daily. Kildonan is on the scenic coast road, south-east side and only a 20 minute drive away from the island's ferry terminal.
By Car
From the ferry terminal, head south through Brodick village and follow the A841 coastal road through Lamlash and Whiting Bay. Continue south on the A841 for approximately 12 miles until you reach Kildonan — the journey takes around 20–25 minutes.
By Public Transport
Catch the Stagecoach West Scotland 323 bus directly from Brodick Ferry Terminal, which runs to Kildonan Hotel roughly five times a day. The journey takes around 36 minutes — check current timetables at travelinescotland.com before you travel as services are limited.
By Bike
Follow the A841 south out of Brodick, hugging the coastline through Lamlash and Whiting Bay — a scenic 12-mile ride of around 1–1.5 hours depending on pace. The route is largely flat along the coast with some gentle rolling sections, making it a manageable and rewarding cycle.
